"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
God sent His Son, Jesus, for you and for me.
Because God loves you, He wants to have a relationship with you. But, God is holy and perfect and we as men and women are not; we are in a lost world and lost in our own sin.
Nothing we do, will ever be good enough to re-establish a relationship with the Lord.
God sent his Son, Jesus, to bridge the gap so that we can be reunited with Him and be in fellowship with Him.
When we ask Christ into our hearts, the Holy Spirit comes and resides in us. The Holy Spirit guides us in our daily lives, pricks our conscience, is our Helper and Comforter.
God is three persons in one; God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit.
Accepting the gift, won't make you perfect.
But, when you accept the gift, by faith, believing in Jesus, his death and resurrection, and turning from sin, you are given a new life; you are "born again."
Just as when a friend gives us a gift, we can accept the gift and embrace it. Or, we can reject the gift and turn our backs on the precious gift that is offered.
I accepted God's gift of forgiveness as a teen. Through my 20's and early 30's, I got away from God and went my own way. My way caused me a lot of heartache and pain. When I was in my late 30's, I started attending church again and rededicated my life to the Lord.
Being a Christian doesn't make your life easy. But, it is easy to lean on the Lord. You gain a friend; a precious friend.
I hope you will accept God's gift through Jesus.
I am forever thankful that I did.
Below are some scriptures that are found in the Bible, God's Holy Word, that talk about this gift.
"There is none righteous, no, not one:"
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Once you accept Christ into your heart, you can have assurance:
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God."
