I've always wanted to try my hand at vegetable gardening. I wasn't able to have a vegetable garden at our old house due to all the mature trees in our yard.

I enjoyed many peaceful afternoons sitting on the deck reading, crocheting and watching my little one play.  The trees kept the house cool in the summer; it just wasn't conducive to growing things.

Last year for Christmas, my husband gave me the book "All New Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew.  The book makes gardening sound easy enough; even for a novice like myself.  I'm looking forward to experimenting with his method.

Right now, the yard of our new house is an open field with a small wind break of trees on the right.

We are thankful for the opportunity to explore this hobby and hopefully produce some of our own foods to bring to the supper table.

"The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing."

Psalm 65:12-13

    1. Thanks JoAnn, I'm looking forward to trying it once we get moved and settled.

  3. Beautiful words from Psalm 63....the words remind me of where I live on the Black Land Prairie in Texas.
