About Me

Hi and welcome to my blog!

I'm a 40 something homemaker, happily married to a wonderful husband.

Me and my husband Fall 2012
We have one son, who is the apple of our eye.

Various photos of my husband, our son and me.

And one hyper dog named "Blackie".

I stay busy with taking care of my little family, homeschooling our son, and trying my hand at new recipes.

It's always a challenge to try to keep the household organized and keep the costs of maintaining a home under control.  I'm always looking for new and innovative ideas to do my "job" better.

Our family loves exploring nature; it is one of our  favorite past times.  I enjoy taking my camera with us on our adventures and discovering God's beauty that is all around us.

    1. The pattern I used is "Sister's Shawl" by Christina Wessels. The pattern is available in The Crochet Prayer Shawl Companion. Additional details can be found on Ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sisters-shawl-2. Best wishes, Heather

  5. I found your site while searching for an afghan pattern using tweed stripes. Can you tell me what pattern you used? The stripes turned out so pretty while mine not so much. When I saw your blanket I decided to start over.

    1. Hi Renee, it's been a while, but looking at the colors in the blanket and comparing to Lion Brand's site, I believe the colors I used were Caramel, Tundra and Woodlands. Here is a link to my post about the yarn showing the colors in their skeins. Hope that helps and best wishes on your blanket. 1. It's a Lion Brand pattern. It's called Homespun Ripple Throw; looks like you need to be logged in to access the free pattern. Here is the link: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/chs-rippleThrow.html?noImages= Good luck. Heather

  7. I just tried to post something and it disappeared - hopefully this will not post twice! I have enjoyed looking through your blog and the all the crochet patterns and pictures you have. Absolutely love the blanket you show at the heading of your pages, but can't find your pattern for that one. It's the cream colored blanket with a green and pink border. Thanks!!

    1. Hi, thank you for your nice comment. That is a personal pattern and I change up the border each time I do it. I didn't write down what I did at the time and it has since been donated. Thank you again for leaving your nice comment and stopping by my blog. Heather

What do you mean when you said
Row 2: dc in 1st st
Do you mean first stitch from hook, or first sc stitch?
It's quite a pretty cloth and I look forward to making it. Thanks so much for sharing the pattern!

    1. Looking back at the pattern, it's a dc in the first st. The whole first row is sc. It doesn't look like I skipped the first stitch as I wrote this pattern back in 2010. Hope that helps, Heather
