Our News...

On one of my last posts, I mentioned that I had some news to share, but wasn't quite ready to reveal it...

Well, I thought I would now.

My husband has been transferred, through his employer, to North Carolina!  I guess we'll be leaving behind the cold winters of Ohio for a milder climate in the South.

We've been super busy getting the house ready for the market.  It's been "live" on the Cincinnati and Dayton market for a week today.  We've had three showings so far with two saying that they are keeping it "under consideration".

Its in God's hands.  Waiting is the hardest part for sure!

I hope you'll enjoy the video of our house.  The photographer didn't get very many photos of our yard, which is two acres.  But, you can look through my blog posts that talks about my gardens and my different planting endeavors.

I'm hoping once we get moved that I'll get back into blogging and sharing our lives with all of you again.

Happy Trails my friends!

Everything Has Its Time

cherry tree buds February 2017

We've had a fairly mild winter so far and some of my trees and shrubs have buds and leaves starting to come out.

It's very early here in Ohio for leaves and flower buds.

Maybe an early spring is in store...

Great Illustrated Classics

When I was growing up, I absolutely loved to read.  I'd bury my nose in a book and the characters would come to life.

As an elementary student and as a pre-teen, I discovered the Great Illustrated Classics books at my school library.  I remember thoroughly enjoying the ones I read.

We recently re-discovered these books for our son.  He likes to read and it was a way to introduce the classics in a manner someone his age would enjoy.  The books have been adapted with kids in mind and are geared for grades 3 through 8.  They have black and white illustrations throughout that help bring the books to life.

It's been fun to revisit some of the books I read as a young reader.

So far, dear son has enjoyed the following:

Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott

Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne

The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel DeFoe

The Call of the Wild by Jack London

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Aesop's Fables

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

Here is the website if you are interested in seeing what classics are available.

I wonder if you remember reading these books growing up?  Which ones were your favorites?

Happy reading!

P.S.  I'm not affiliated with the books in anyway, just giving my opinion on them.

A New Year

A new year.....

Where did 2016 go?

We are settled into our long winter routine.  School and extra-curricular activities keep my family busy.  Hubby and dear son are getting ready for their first camping trip with one of son's groups.  I think they are both equally excited.  I'll have Blackie to keep me company while they are away.

She's settled into her winter routine as well.  Long naps under the school desks.  Sleeping with eyes wide open...

We had a few snow flurries yesterday.  Today the sun is out bringing a cheeriness to the winter landscape.

I hope you have all been well these last couple of months.  I have exciting news to tell you, but I'm not quite ready to share.  How's that for bait!

I'm trying to muster up some crochet mojo.  I've been contemplating digging out an old work in progress.

Do you remember this?

It's been on my mind the past few days to get it out and work on it.  I need to gather the courage to face the craft room closet.  It's a jungle in there!

Happy Monday!
