It was a Hike

Ever wonder the difference between a "walk" and a "hike"?

Today, there was no doubt, we went on a hike.

This afternoon, we headed out to Germantown MetroPark and "hiked" a couple of different trails.

The terrain had heavily rooted pathways.
We went went up and down hills.
We crossed many dry creek beds.
We climbed over a few downed trees.

I felt like the people in the story We're going on a Bear Hunt.

But, I digress.

It was fun family time and we've already talked about what trail we'd like to do next.

It was surprisingly cool on the forested trail, especially considering how hot it was in the full sun.

I didn't get too many photos as my eyes were focused on my path.  I was keenly intent on avoiding obstacles and preventing any unforeseen nose-dives.

I hope you'll enjoy the few shots I did take.

Happy Trails!

  1. I prefer a little stroll these days rather than a hike, the Grandchildren call it a ramble.

    1. A ramble with your grandchildren sounds like fun. :-)

  2. Hikes are always good to get you out of the normal routine. I really need to get out and go on one myself.

    1. Thanks Kar, it was fun and good exercise too. I was worn out though! :-)

  3. Love the white flower. Is that Baby's Breath?

  4. hi heather...the germantown metropark appears to be quite a lovely wonderful your family is keen to remain close to share adventures...this fall, when the temperatures and humidity are down i am planning to make a concerted effort to travel trail walks with my husband...we may not go a great distance, however, to be outside in the fresh air and enjoying the environment will be fine with us best to you and yours...take care...sally

  5. Hello, looks like a lovely hike. The wildflowers are beautiful. Happy weekend to you!

  6. It looks like such a lovely area to take a hike. We want to start hiking more too, but it got delayed with my surgery. But hopefully if not this fall, next spring we will start. But it is hard to hike and take photos. :)
