I'm Grateful for the Cold

Our weather has been frightful this week.
We've had snow and temperatures measured in the negatives.

And, for that, I am most grateful.

This weather brought a calmness to the house that I so enjoy.

An environment of hearth and home that warms my heart.

The weather gave me time to do things that are often rushed about due to time constraints and outside commitments.

I tried a new recipe for Popovers.
If you've never made them, try them!  They are a fun treat.

I enjoyed breakfast tea with my favorite boy in the whole wide world.

That favorite boy and I had a fun art lesson drawing aquatic animals in an underwater sea world.

We've enjoyed casual meals by a cozy fire.

And spent quiet time together as a family.

So, I'm grateful for the cold, the wind and the snow outside.  It's reminded me of the warmth inside.

I hope the weekend brings you a full heart with much to be thankful for.

  1. What a beautiful post! I love those seasons when there is no yard work and I can concentrate on inside the home and spending time with my mother who lives with me. Have a wonderful day.

    1. Thank you Melanie. I hope you have a great weekend. Heather

  2. Love this post -- it's good to remember those things. Have a lovely weekend.

  3. The weather is schitzophrenic here in winter. I'm too lazy to look that up and see if I spelled it right cuz I'm on my phone and it's a pain. Anyway, we're bouncing back and forth between highs in the upper 70s and 30s.

    1. Our weather is usually subject to change here in OH as well, but it's been consistently cold this week with snow. All the schools have been closed all week due to weather and President's day on Monday. Have a great weekend. Heather

  4. Heather, you are a treasure! I admit to complaining about the cold and snow...and ice. Thank you for reminding me that looking at the other side of the coin is much more calming. :) Hugs to you. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thank you for your sweet comment Dianna. May your weekend be blessed. Heather

  5. You are truly having our winter and we are having yours. We are usually very cold this time of year, but not so far. Love the fireplace, looks like a cozy area to curl up in. :)

  6. What a beautiful way of looking at the cold, dear Heather :) I always love when there is a storm for the same reasons you mentioned in your post.

May you have a beautiful weekend! Hugs to you!

  8. It does look lovely and cosy Heather, it is good to be snug inside when it's so cold out especially if you don't have to be anywhere else, have a good weekend and keep warm :) xx

  9. We all need times when we just sit back, relax and take things as they are. During yesterday's sand storm, there were folks who just couldn't seem to stay home. Why would you put yourself and others in harm's way? Driving is bad enough without low visibility? I'm always thankful for shelter and cozy days. Best wishes, Tammy

  10. Heather, you are such a kind soul. I love that you see the beauty in everything.

  11. I agree with you Heather! This is the reason I love winter! So cozy and time to stop and enjoy the blessings from the hardworking year! Thank you for sharing with us this week on the Art of Home-Making Mondays! :)
