Thoughts on a New Project and a Work in Progress

Last night around 1:30ish a.m., I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep.

Does that ever happen to you?

So instead of tossing, turning and waking up the hubster, I went down to the computer, got on Ravelry and perused afghan patterns.

What else is there to do in the middle of the night?

I found one that looked like fun to make.

Isn't it cheerful looking?

So, this afternoon, I started rooting through my stash to see if I had yarn on hand to make it.

So close and yet so far!

These colors (RHSS) are the closest to the pattern, but I don't think I have enough to make the full afghan....

I could make a smaller blanket.  Or, I do have enough other colors, but it would be more "earthy" instead of fun; and I was looking for fun.

In addition to the yarn, I came across a work in progress from last fall.  So I pulled that out as well.

While I'm contemplating a new project, I'll work on this.  I'd say I was at the one-third point.

What do you think of the Country Fresh Blanket?

I REALLY don't want to buy any yarn.  If you saw the state of my hobby room right now, you'd understand why.  I really need to get that room organized.

But I'll think about that another day.

Toodles for now,
Heather

  1. Beautiful, a lovely work in progress that is too nice not to finish. I love the colour combination of the new afghan.

  2. I think your Country Fresh Blanket is beautiful! LOVE the awesome design! I'd not want anyone to see the state of my craft room at the present either. It doubles as a guest room also...let's just say it needs a bit of TLC right now. I do have my containers to organize though...if that counts. :o)

    Have a wonderful evening, Heather!

  3. I think it's a pretty afghan - and yes, the colors are cheerful. If you really, really want to make it in those colors, I think you're gonna have to bite the bullet and buy more yarn. I would. :)

  4. Oh yes I often wake in the night and lie there for hours trying to get some sleep, if I haven't got work the next day I usually get up and do some browsing too. I love the Afghan and the colours you have chosen are very close but other colours could be fun too maybe just by adding a brighter colour to the Earthy shades, you will think of something I'm sure. Your wip is lovely :)

  5. That would be a wonderful blanket indeed. I would do some more rooting around the stash to see if there are other color choices just so you wouldn't have to buy more yarn. The Country Fresh blanket is gorgeous! Definitely finish that first. :)

  6. I like the Country Fresh afghan, and I saved it a while back. But I LOVE the blanket you started with the bobbles that isn't finished yet. Hope you sleep better tonight! I know how miserable that can be.

  8. It does look like a fun project, but I understand about the yarn and not wanting to buy more. I hope you find it in your stash. For me, if I got up in the middle of the night hubby would wake up even more. :)

  9. The bobble blanket is sooooo elegant, and I imagine it will be wonderfully warm as well. I hope you enjoy finishing it, but I also hope you are able to stitch the pattern you found in the middle of the night :) It is cheery! I wonder how small it would be if you just used the yarn you already have? I do not have a good sense for figuring that sort of thing out.

  13. Good morning my friend! I adore that afghan! LOVE it! And you have some pretty darn close yarn for starting it! Of course, it would require a trip to buy more. I also love the work in progress. Bobbles are near and dear to my heart. I am wanting to do another big blanket this Fall too!
